That’s right, integrated routing and subscriber management means you can decommission your aggregation router and move the functions, along with the OLT, from a hub or central office into a hardened, intelligent system.  As a result, operators can extend the reach of data centers catalyzing the collapse of hubs and costly managed facilities leading to dramatic reductions in TCO.

 

Software Defined Access

The modularity of the system extends beyond the physical.  Powered by AXOS, the E3-2 delivers on the promise of Software Defined Access. The fast, always-on, and simple network provides a stateful system that allows incremental enhancements or feature addition. AXOS componentized nature makes the E3-2 ideally suited for virtualized functions in a complex network environment. The E3-2 with AXOS can accelerate network transformation by seamlessly coexisting with virtualized architectures, such as CCAP, and enable zero touch provisioning ultimately driving the operational complexity and costs out of networks.

The E3-2 supports multiple provisioning and back office integration options including Netconf, Openflow, Calix Activate, as well as DOCSIS® provisioning mediation for cable operators using Open Link Cable.

GPON to 10G PON Modularity

The E3-2 provides operators with a simple upgrade path from Gigabit to multi-Gigabit PON with field replaceable modules. Moving from GPON to 10G PON can be accomplished simply by replacing a module using a standard screwdriver. No other components need be replaced, preserving all of the initial investment in the E3-2. As the E3-2 supports two PON interface modules, each can be upgraded independently without service impacts.

Cost and Deployment Time Reduction

E3-2 can seamlessly integrate into an operator’s network by leveraging existing power and right-of-ways. The rugged aluminum enclosure has a “deploy anywhere design” that can be mounted aerially, in a pedestal, on a pole, or wall. This flexibility can dramatically reduce costs while accelerating construction.  Deployment times can go from weeks or months to as little as a day because the E3-2 eliminates land acquisition and permit requirements. The E3-2 supports a variety of powering options that are best suited for the operator’s unique deployment environment. Redundant supply modules are available to support 60-90VAC, 190VAC, -48VDC, and 110/220VAC.
