Being in Lock-Step: Cheryl Rodness Joins Calix to Lead the Sales and Channel Enablement Program

 

Earlier this month, Cheryl Rodness joined my team as the Sales Enablement Senior Director. In this new position, she will take the lead on ensuring our sales team and ecosystem partners are in sync on the latest and greatest from Calix. As Cheryl came on board, I sat down with her to learn a bit more about her background and mission at Calix.

Matt: Welcome to Calix Cheryl! Tell me a little about yourself and your background prior to joining us.

Cheryl: I’ve been in global marketing for over 20 years, specializing in the high-tech arena. I’ve worked for a number of outstanding companies including IBM, Juniper and Unisys and had the good fortune to learn from some of the best. My roles have given me the opportunity to live/work in Japan, the Netherlands, the UK, and Canada as well as working and training teams across 25 countries around the world. This perspective has allowed me to truly understand what it means to be a global marketer and understand the nuances of marketing in different business environments and cultures.

Matt: Why did you join Calix and what role will you now be playing as part of the Calix team?

Cheryl: I joined Calix to head up our Sales and Channel Enablement Program.   Making the decision to join Calix was an easy one. In looking for a new opportunity I was drawn to companies with a culture of camaraderie and collaboration. I was specifically looking for an organization where sales and marketing are in lock-step and have a symbiotic relationship. As the lead for sales and channel enablement, it is my responsibility to ensure that our sales team gains the information needed to best position our solutions to our customers. 

Matt: What are you most excited about/looking forward to in this new role?

Cheryl: I’m so excited about where this market is going, and the opportunity Calix has to improve everyone’s digital experience. Calix builds solutions to connect the entire home and to improve connectivity across cities and rural landscapes. We have the opportunity to bring families together by connecting everyone and everything. That can have a lasting impact on someone’s life and society overall. Being a part of that connection is exciting to me!

Matt: Tell us something about yourself that we don’t know.

Cheryl: Personally, I love to travel (I’ve been to over 90 countries) and have a tremendous passion for understanding different cultures. But when I’m not travelling and have the time, I like to consider myself an amateur pastry chef (with an emphasis on ‘amateur’)! I make a pretty good éclair!

 

We are thrilled to have Cheryl join the Calix marketing team as we continue on with our mission to connect everyone and everything. We can’t wait to see the impact she will make with our sales team and partners as she settles in to this new position.
