Ready To Boost Your Broadband Operations With Enhanced Automation, Insights, and Efficiencies?

A woman looking at data to boost broadband operations on a digital tablet

Broadband service providers (BSPs) have a unique opportunity to break into new markets by leveraging the growing array of SmartLife™ managed services available on the Calix broadband platform.

It’s now easier than ever to deliver single-family home internet solutions (SmartHome™), community internet and government networks (SmartTown™), small business broadband services (SmartBiz™), and apartment wifi solutions for multi-dwelling units (SmartMDU™). With the Calix broadband platform, operations teams use the same systems, cloud services, and workflow automation to serve these different markets, helping BSPs bring new managed services to market efficiently and operate them at a lower cost—resulting in an exceptional subscriber experience.

Enhancements for Operations Teams

We’re continuing to evolve our platform by addressing the pain points operations teams face when diversifying into new markets and differentiating service offerings. We hear your feedback: Teams need advanced visibility into the network, so the right people get the critical information they need at the right time. Teams also need access to tools to automate processes, such as network monitoring, outage management, and service provisioning.

The latest updates to Calix Operations Cloud (Operations Cloud), a key tool within the Calix broadband platform for managing the SmartLife portfolio of services, address these concerns:

  • Improve network health reporting and usability. Operations teams can quickly identify the root cause of network issues with advanced alarm filtering and improved network outage detection. Plus, operations personnel can easily access all network health KPIs on a single dashboard with just one click.

  • Enhance optical light level monitoring and trending. Operations teams can proactively identify optical network terminal (ONT) or optical line terminal (OLT) ports experiencing performance degradation with weekly notifications of changes in relative light levels beyond a 3-decibel threshold—even if the level isn’t low enough to trigger an alarm.

  • Streamline service provisioning for new services. Using the latest automation features, operations teams can provision new types of subscribers (such as small businesses) or new services (such as community Wi-Fi) as quickly as home internet service—avoiding error-prone manual steps and labor-intensive processes.

With these enhancements, BSPs using the Calix broadband platform to provision, monitor, and manage the end-to-end network can drive even greater operational efficiencies. Practically speaking, it means fewer support calls and escalations, fewer truck rolls, and major reductions in mean time to repair (MTTR).

One example is Missouri-based Chariton Valley, reducing truck rolls by 30 percent. Another is Mississippi’s Tombigbee Fiber, which slashed MTTR by 75 percent. These BSPs demonstrate what is possible when you transform operations using insights, predictive analytics, and automation. It’s the secret to growing your business and delighting your subscribers.
