We’ve Got Your Smart Start for Launching New Managed Services

Launching a new managed service to expand into new markets can be daunting. Consider what is needed to launch community Wi-Fi. Is my network up to the task? Do my teams have the tools to operationalize and support the new offering? What is my go-to-market strategy?

At Calix, we hear these questions all the time. Because we work with broadband service providers (BSPs) like you every day, we can provide guidance rooted in proven best practices. In fact, when it comes to launching managed services, we’ve distilled everything we know into our Smart Start for Managed Services program.

Get a Smart Start With Calix

This program is designed to help BSPs plan, launch, and support exciting new managed services on the Calix Broadband Platform. It covers everything from building the initial business case to implementing tried-and-true best practices.

Smart Start typically involves a four-phase process, where our experts help you:

  1. Set your objectives and plan your approach. We work with your marketing and planning teams to assess market demand and develop a deployment plan. This helps determine where investments and resources may be needed.

  2. Design your network architecture. When deploying a new managed service such as SmartTown™ or SmartMDU™, we collaborate with your network design team to identify where new systems need to be deployed—and the optimal way to extend service where needed (e.g., whether a mesh or dedicated system is most appropriate).

  3. Operationalize your new offering. We work with operations teams to harness the power of tools such as Operations Cloud to get the new service offering up and running. This includes using geo-mapping tools to, for example, determine which individuals are connected to a system in a SmartMDU environment, or see which Wi-Fi units are active for SmartTown in residential or community spaces.

  4. Optimize and monitor. We provide guidance on how to use Calix Cloud® tools such as Operations Cloud and Service Cloud to seamlessly manage troubleshooting, upgrades, workflow, and reporting—continually improving the service.

Support Wherever You Are on Your Journey

If we’ve learned one thing from working with BSPs to launch managed services successfully, it’s that one size rarely fits all. Every provider we work with has different people, processes, and priorities.

Our mission is always to meet our customers where they are today. Some are confident enough to take the DIY approach, relying solely on our library of digital resources when deploying a new managed service. Others benefit from direct in-person access to our experts to help work through various strategic and tactical challenges.

But the end goal is always the same: Empower BSPs to transform the subscriber experience and drive better business outcomes.
