Enhancements to Access EDGE Tools give service providers everything they need to turn up services faster and troubleshoot networks remotely while delivering unparalleled subscriber experiences
SAN JOSE, CA – May 19, 2020 – Calix, Inc. (NYSE: CALX) today announced the quarterly release of the Intelligent Access EDGE, which enhances the Access EDGE Tools by delivering advanced network resiliency, reliability, and automation capabilities. The Intelligent Access EDGE simplifies network operations, enabling CSPs to keep subscribers connected and workers safe with enhanced service provisioning and remote network troubleshooting—critical as they face challenges introduced by COVID-19. This release enhances the AXOS® Services Management Connector (SMx), adding new levels of serviceability and flexibility to handle the increased demands on their networks. AXOS Diagnostics Toolbox works in parallel with SMx, giving CSPs advanced remote network troubleshooting capabilities. Overlaying both of these tools is Access EDGE Enablement, with dedicated Calix Professional Services team members ready to help CSPs accelerate the deployment and turn up of AXOS networks with minimal impact on their subscribers and operations teams.
“As we continue to address changing network usage patterns in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, we need to stay ahead of demand,” said John Stephens, senior access technician for Kansas-based Nex-Tech. “We have invested heavily in the tools necessary to deliver an unparalleled subscriber experience, but to ensure it remains uninterrupted, new service turn up needs to be seamless. The AXOS SMx Connector optimizes service operations and provisioning, enabling us to keep our primary focus on the subscriber and leave the back office operations in the background. SMx has delivered operational efficiency improvements that allow us to continue delighting our subscribers as they—and we—adjust to the new normal.”
Enhancements to SMx include:
“From a service provider perspective, keeping subscribers connected and workers safe are our highest priorities in addressing the many challenges introduced by COVID-19,” Gene Dixon, senior technician, broadband operations for Kansas-based Craw-Kan Telephone Cooperative. “We need network resiliency, reliability, and visibility now more than ever. The AXOS Diagnostics Toolbox enables us to maintain all of these at any time without having to roll trucks and potentially put technicians in harm’s way. We have future-proofed our network with AXOS, but as we continue to grow it, Calix is giving us the visibility we need to do so intelligently.”
Alongside the quarterly product upgrades, Calix EDGE Enablement delivers a pair of services that take the guesswork out of planning, installing, and turning up AXOS networks. The SMx Deployment Service delivers a firsthand orientation on service configuration and subscriber provisioning, while the SMx Turn Up Service assists CSPs in getting SMx installed, turned up, and running smoothly.
“Now, more than ever, broadband connectivity is important to every person in every walk of life—it is keeping people connected despite mandatory physical distance,” said Michel Langlois, chief development officer, Intelligent Access EDGE products for Calix. “Service providers have weathered the initial demand spike from everyone accessing bandwidth-intensive applications on home networks at all hours of the day. It is critical that CSPs continue to deliver a seamless, cohesive subscriber experience, and this release addresses the core of this effort—efficiency in both service provisioning and remote troubleshooting. Calix gives service providers all the solutions and services they need to keep subscribers connected and lead a seamless transition into the post-pandemic new normal.”
