Emily Cooperative Telephone Company Selects Calix AXOS to Deliver Always-On Gigabit Services in Central Minnesota

PETALUMA, CA – February 22, 2018 – Calix, Inc. (NYSE: CALX) today announced Emily Cooperative Telephone Company (ECTC) is deploying the Calix AXOS E7-2 Intelligent Modular System and GigaFamily premises solutions for their next generation fiber network in Central Minnesota. An NTCA Gig-Certified service provider, ECTC will upgrade their existing GPON and Active Ethernet based network to Calix AXOS GPON solutions in order to deliver a sensational subscriber experience to their customers. With the always-on, self-healing, and remote diagnostic capabilities enabled by AXOS, ECTC can streamline operations and minimize downtime for maintenance windows and repairs, dramatically reducing operating costs. More importantly, these powerful and unique AXOS features also are increasingly valuable to subscribers, driving lower churn, and higher customer satisfaction.

“As ECTC looked ahead to the transformation of our fiber network, we were looking not just for another box, but for a platform that could evolve with us as we move to software defined access and next generation fiber technologies,” said Josh Netland, general manager at ECTC. “That is exactly what we have found in Calix, a partner who is committed to that transformation as well. Calix has a compelling vision both for the future of our network, driven by AXOS, but also for our services, including smart home and Carrier Class Wi-Fi offerings. We feel confident that we are moving forward with the right partner who will help us maximize our long-term investment and allow us to bring a world-class broadband experience to our subscribers.”

The Calix E7-2, the most widely deployed access system in North America and delivering advanced broadband services in over 1000 service provider networks worldwide, is now shipping GPON for its portfolio of AXOS services. Armed with AXOS, the world’s only SDA, ECTC can make network updates and add features via AXOS components while keeping the network and services up and running – minimizing the need for service interrupting maintenance windows. The combination of AXOS and GPON on the E7-2 also provides ECTC with unparalleled flexibility, enabling a seamless path to next generation fiber technologies and SDA when necessary.

“Our mission is to deliver platforms that enable new business models, transform service provider speed to market, and deliver on the promise of a next generation subscriber experience,” said Michael Weening, Calix executive vice president of sales and marketing. “That platform promise is helping service providers of all sizes and backgrounds take their business to the next level – as ECTC is doing with AXOS and the GigaFamily. They are streamlining operations and delivering a world class experience while investing in a platform that will enable ongoing network evolution through future innovations such as automation and AI. In doing so, ECTC is blazing a clear path forward for the over 1000 service providers globally who have E7-2s in their network and are ready to reap the benefits of the award-winning AXOS platform.”

See the Calix AXOS E7-2, GigaFamily, and the entire suite of AXOS systems next week in Austin, Texas in Booth #301 at NTCA’s RTIME 2018.
