Nex-Tech Embraces Calix Mesh-Enhanced Carrier Class Wi-Fi Solution to Provide an Exceptional and Differentiated Subscriber Experience

SAN JOSE, CA – December 13, 2018 – Calix, Inc. (NYSE: CALX) today announced that Kansas-based, local exchange carrier Nex-Tech is deploying the Calix Mesh-Enhanced Carrier Class Wi-Fi solution and Calix Support Cloud to power and manage their new Premium Wi-Fi offering. Nex-Tech has enabled their subscribers to deploy a range of connected devices – including thermostats, door locks, and cameras – which require strong, continuous Wi-Fi connections. As subscribers continue to purchase and deploy more devices and embrace new video streaming services, it is increasingly important that Nex-Tech delivers faster broadband service and ubiquitous Wi-Fi coverage. To ensure an exceptional subscriber experience, Nex-Tech must also increase their visibility into the quality of the Wi-Fi connections to these devices across a home network. Nex-Tech is leveraging Calix Support Cloud to provide this visibility to quickly and efficiently identify and resolve Wi-Fi connection issues.

“With the recent launch of our OTT video streaming service ‘Nex-Tech TV Now,’ providing a premium Wi-Fi experience for all of our subscribers has become paramount,” said Jimmy Todd, CEO and general manager of Nex-Tech. “With the Calix Mesh-Enhanced Carrier Class Wi-Fi solution and Calix Support Cloud, our subscribers can be confident that they are getting the best Wi-Fi coverage, performance, and support services possible, from their front porch to their home office, and every point in between. This positions us well for the future, as the products and services that our subscribers use become more complicated and bandwidth-intensive.”

Rural Telephone dba, Nex-Tech, was the first operator in the region to offer 1 Gbps fiber service to support high-speed Internet, digital TV, home security, and local and long-distance phone service. Considered one of the NTCA’s largest and most-respected telecom operators, Nex-Tech connects approximately 25,000 homes and businesses through a robust fiber broadband network.

“Service providers can no longer focus solely on the delivery of high-speed data. They must provide subscribers with differentiated experiences that can adjust to the rapidly evolving smart home marketplace,” said Skip Hirvela, vice president of sales at Calix. “Robust, reliable, and secure Wi-Fi enables these types of next-generation services and is driving the purchasing decisions subscribers are making. Calix premises solutions deliver connectivity from virtually anywhere, and Calix Support Cloud-enabled services ensure subscribers’ needs are met with real-time, remote troubleshooting support. Nex-Tech is a great example of a service provider listening to and meeting the needs of their subscribers.”
