Calix Appoints Kevin Pope as Senior Vice President, Product Development

February 3, 2009, PETALUMA, CACalix, the largest telecom equipment supplier focused solely on access solutions for broadband service delivery, today announced that Kevin Pope has joined the company as senior vice president, product development.

"Kevin has a long history in the telecommunications equipment market of crafting a clear strategic technology vision and leading product development teams to execute on that direction, which makes him an excellent fit for Calix," said Carl Russo, president and CEO of Calix. Kevin understands the directions of these markets as well as the tactical needs of our customers, and has the proven ability to deliver solutions that systematically balance and address these requirements."

As senior vice president, product development, Pope is responsible for strategic planning as well as all development and product management functions for the Calix Unified Access Infrastructure (UAI). The UAI includes the Calix C-, E-, F-, and P-Series product families and the Calix Management System (CMS).

Pope has more than 20 years of engineering management and product development experience. As vice president of engineering at Hammerhead Systems, he handled all aspects of product development and played a key role in company strategy and product planning. Previously, Pope was the founding vice president of engineering at Mahi Networks, where he was involved in company strategy, fund raising, and team building, and built a world-class engineering team.

Pope also held executive positions at Applied Digital Access and senior positions at ASEA HAFO and Bell Laboratories, prior to founding Mahi Networks. He holds a BSEE from the University of Minnesota, an MS in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California at Berkeley, and an MBA from San Diego State University.
