SmartTown for Education Mobile Application Privacy Policy
SmartTown for Education is a mobile application developed by Calix, Inc. (“Calix,” “we,” “us”) for use by subscribers of broadband service providers (BSPs) who purchase cloud and software services from Calix, Inc. Calix, Inc. is a processor of (or service provider for) the BSP information. Your BSP provider is the controller of (or business for) its user’s personally identifiable information (“Personal Information”). This Privacy Policy sets forth policy with respect to information including Personal Information and other information that is collected from users of the SmartTown for Education mobile application (collectively, the “Services”). Calix respects your privacy and as such we strive to collect the minimal amount of information necessary to operate our Services.
Purpose of SmartTown for Education mobile application
The purpose of this SmartTown for Education application is to utilize Passpoint to facilitate connectivity of Chromebook to SmartTown networks. SmartTown uses Passpoint because it provides a higher level of Wi-Fi security. Passpoint is a Wi-Fi authentication standard created by the Wi-Fi Alliance that helps facilitate secure and uninterrupted Wi-Fi connectivity. The Passpoint profile contained in this application enables automatic connection of your Chromebook to SmartTown, eliminating the need for users to manually enter login credentials. Information we collect
Personal Identifiers: SmartTown for Education does not directly collect or store any personal identifiers, such as your name, address, or contact details.
Homepage Access Logs: Our servers log access to our homepage, including IP address, page accessed, browser type and operating system.
Device Information: In order to prevent piracy, SmartTown for Education may access and report unique device identifiers such as Hostname, MAC or UUID.
Cookies: Our Services do not use cookies or tracking technologies to collect information about your online activities.
Support Requests: We may request more information when you contact our support. As appropriate, the administrator of the SmartTown for Education application may be asked to provide contact information.

How we use the information

Disclosure of information
We will not sell or rent your Personal Information to other companies. Except as described below, we will not disclose your Personal Information to outside parties.
- Third Party Service Providers – For processing or fulfilling orders.
- Legal Compliance – We do not log what you do through our servers, so we do not have any such information to provide to law enforcement or anyone else. Outside of this, we, like all companies, need to comply with the legal process including court orders and other requests from law enforcement and regulatory authorities.
- Assignment – We reserve the right to transfer Personal Information to a new entity or third party as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of some or all our assets, joint venture, assignment, transfer, or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, assets, or stock (including, without limitation, in connection with any bankruptcy or similar proceedings).
- In connection with the essential purposes described above in the preceding twelve (12) months, Calix has not sold Personal Information.
Protecting the privacy of children
We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of sixteen (16). The FS App is not intended for children under 16. Calix, acting under BSP instructions, does not knowingly collect personal data of children under 16 without parental consent. If Calix learns that personal information from a child under 16 has been obtained or received without verification of parental consent, Calix will delete that information. If you believe Calix might have any information from or about a child under 16, please notify Calix by completing a Request Form (clicking the link will take you to TrustArc, whom Calix has engaged to assist with personal information requests).
Data security
All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers behind firewalls. Calix utilizes mechanisms such as intrusion detection systems, intrusion prevention systems, firewalls and encryption to secure information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. Calix deploys Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) to alert and proactively contain potential threats. Enhanced security visibility and coverage is enabled through added layers of firewall and IDS beyond the network perimeter. Management connections to servers are always authenticated and encrypted via Secure Shell (SSH) when administration access is required for troubleshooting, patch management, and upgrades. Calix runs automated vulnerability scanning on all perimeter systems to identify potential security risks. Scanning applications are regularly updated to remain current and up to date on important security vulnerabilities. Patches are applied to all relevant systems unless a compensating control is implemented. Calix uses a variety of industry-standard security technologies and best practices to help protect information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. All data stored on the Calix systems is
encrypted following industry standards using the strongest keys and ciphers. All communications with the App are protected with industry standard security protocols.
Deleting information

Data storage and retention
Your Personal Information is stored by Calix on its servers, and on the servers of the cloud-based database management services Calix engages, which may be in the United States. Calix retains data for the duration of the customer’s or member’s business relationship with Calix.
