Calix AXOS Innovation Brings the Ultimate Guest Broadband Experience to Leading Hospitality Brands

PETALUMA, CA – November 30, 2017 – Calix, Inc. (NYSE: CALX), has expanded its mission of delivering an unmatched subscriber experience to an emerging market segment – Hoteliers. By leveraging AXOS-enhanced Fiber-to-the-Room (FTTR) solutions, some of the leading hospitality brands in the world are now redefining their guest experience to include always-on connectivity, ubiquitous coverage for guest devices, and unmatched broadband speed and performance. Leading hospitality brands recognize the changing broadband demands of their guests who are bringing more devices and higher expectations for service when they travel.

To meet these demands, two of the premier global brands in the industry have turned to Calix AXOS solutions to power their FTTR initiatives. In 2017, Calix added new capabilities, such as power-over-Ethernet (PoE) premises solutions optimized for hoteliers, to the company’s unrivaled fiber expertise, system modularity, and Carrier Class Wi-Fi support. As leading hospitality brands are embracing broadband as a critical component to their overall guest experience, Calix has become the obvious choice to help them differentiate in a highly competitive market.

“As consumers become accustomed to advanced broadband services at their homes and businesses, their broadband connectivity expectations as hotel guests have risen dramatically,” said Michael Weening, executive vice president, sales and marketing at Calix. “Travelers now demand the same service experience whether traveling for business or pleasure, and hoteliers are seeking a leg-up in their highly competitive market to turn this challenge into an advantage. Calix is well suited to deliver this advantage to hoteliers as our commitment to delivering an unmatched broadband experience is on par with their world-class accommodations. Together with our unrivaled fiber expertise and AXOS-enabled FTTR solutions, guests in every hospitality environment, from urban high-rise hotels to sprawling luxury resorts, will have broadband services and a guest experience to rave about online.”

With over a thousand service provider customers around the world serving millions of fiber access subscribers, Calix brings the deepest expertise in the fiber access industry to hoteliers. Leveraging AXOS, the world’s only software defined access architecture, Calix hospitality solutions are built for rapid and seamless installation and operation. At the center of the solution set is a wide variety of Calix PoE GigaHub premises solutions, with models to meet the various deployment scenarios found in today’s hotels including support for high-end IP services, as well as existing POTS and RF video services. The Calix AXOS E7-2 Intelligent Modular System is optimized to support hospitality environments and features unrivaled modularity and support for fiber standards including, GPON, XGS-PON, and NG-PON2.

Dozens of hoteliers globally have deployed Calix’s expansive portfolio, including additional AXOS E-Series systems, GigaFamily solutions that include Carrier Class Wi-Fi support, and optical network terminals (ONTs) to accommodate a variety of use cases. Calix hospitality solutions have also passed the rigorous global property network standard at one of the world’s largest hotel chains and a new 30,000 room FTTR project with another major hospitality brand is currently underway across multiple resort properties.

As part of the expansion into the hospitality market, Calix has also expanded its partner base, adding IT integrator VT Group to the Calix Channel Partner Program. VT Group has extensive experience as a full-service provider of turnkey broadband solutions for some of the world’s largest hotel brands. The combination of VT Group’s market experience and Calix’s innovative technology background in GPON gives hoteliers best-of-breed FTTR solutions capable of delivering gigabit services while driving operational and space saving efficiencies. Calix solutions have been tested by the Converged Technology Integration (CTI) VT Group lab and the two companies are now working together on several new projects.

“Over the last several years, we have seen the hotel broadband environment change dramatically, as families are bringing an average of five connected devices to their rooms and need a reliable connection that can support a wide array of applications,” said Blayne Schorr, director of sales at VT Group. “In our partnership with Calix, we are excited to now provide a broad offering of innovative solutions, from GPON to Gfast, to our hotel customers and allow them to deliver the best broadband experience to their guests. As we work together in the hospitality space in the coming years, we are looking forward to leveraging the speed of innovation that Calix brings to the market and change the dynamics of hotel broadband to make gigabit, and even 10 gigabit, services a reality.”
