WHO AND WHAT
Calix, the largest communications equipment supplier
focused solely on access solutions for broadband service delivery, announced
today that it has been invited to speak at the FCC National Broadband Plan Staff Workshops event in Washington, DC on Thursday, August 13, 2009, 9:30 a.m. EDT.
Geoff Burke, Calix senior director of corporate marketing, will participate on a
panel entitled, Technology/Fixed
Broadband.
As a part of the panel, Calix will present its views on how advanced
technologies, such as fiber to the premises (FTTP), can support
future broadband service requirements and the unique challenges in developing
such systems for smaller market areas.
Other executives on this panel include a variety of industry experts:

- David Young, Vice President, Verizon Federal Regulatory Affairs
- Dr. Paul Henry, Broadband Wireless Systems Research Division, AT&T Bell Labs

Participants will examine both fixed and wireless broadband technologies that are affecting
broadband networks today and that will likely affect them in the future.
The purpose of the workshops is to promote an open dialogue between the FCC and key
constituents on matters important to the National Broadband Plan. The
Technology/Fixed Broadband panel will focus on the future of broadband
evolution in the United States and will provide different perspectives on the
current and future technologies required to deliver fixed broadband
applications.
