AUGUST 28, 2007, PETALUMA, CA—Calix today announced that Mornington
Communications Co-operative Ltd., an ILEC and CLEC in Ontario, Canada, has selected
the Calix C7multiservice access
platform (MSAP) and the Calix Management System (CMS) to enable a wide array of
new services. The company has also purchased Calix's four-port 2.5 Gbps GPON
service interface module for the C7, enabling Mornington Communications to
deliver advanced, very-high-bandwidth services such as high definition IPTV.
The Calix C7 MSAP is being deployed throughout Mornington's ILEC and CLEC
operating areas in southwestern Ontario.
Mornington Communications was looking for a solution that would enable it to offer
high-speed DSL and GPON on a single platform, and found what it needed in the
Calix C7 MSAP. The C7 is a versatile packet-based platform that enables
Mornington Communications to deliver POTS, VOIP, ultra-high-speed Internet
access, and IPTV over GPON and ADSL2+. The Calix C7s are interconnected via an
OC-48 fiber backbone architected to support massive throughput and the
implementation and delivery of IPTV services.
"We chose the Calix
C7 because it enables us to deliver multiple services to our consumer and
enterprise customers today and positions us to offer IPTV in the future," said
Richard Banks, general manager of Mornington Communications. "Support for GPON
and IPTV is particularly important to us; the GPON standard makes our network
future-ready, and we want to be able to deliver video services to our
customers. With its support for advanced services and ease of provisioning and
management, the Calix C7 lets regional CLECs such as Mornington Communications
do everything the national carriers can do."
Calix has been very
responsive to Mornington Communications' needs, shipping its platform quickly
and enabling the company to bring its new services to market in a timely
fashion. Other benefits the company gained from working with Calix are a
platform with exceptional reliability, service delivery, and proven
scalability.
