JUNE 20, 2007, PETALUMA, CA—Calix today announced that its customer
Greenfield Communications was named a 2007 NXTComm Eos Award winner for its
fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) networks in California and Arizona. Greenfield,
along with 12 other category winners, will be recognized tonight at a reception
at NXTComm in Chicago.
Greenfield was
selected as a winner due to its work with developers to differentiate their
communities by designing, constructing, and operating fiber-optic
infrastructure to homes in new developments. Greenfield has turned up eight
FTTP projects, has more than 5,000 customers, and is actively designing and
constructing 11 more projects. These 17 projects represent over 75,000 homes.
The company has also secured 22 more FTTP projects representing over 200,000
homes. Greenfield is currently the largest privately held FTTP communications provider
in the country, based on the number of homes under contract.
"With the help of
outstanding partners like Calix, Greenfield has been able to deliver high-speed
services to support the multitude of new applications residential subscribers
are demanding," said Greenfield Communications president Mike Powers. "As fiber
deployments continue to expand throughout the country, this award serves a
validation of the work we have been dedicated to in new housing communities."
The inaugural Eos
Awards honor exhibiting companies that have developed the most promising new
technologies or provided the best new network services and strategic support. A
judging panel of 16 consultants, technical journalists, and service providers
from the communications industry selected the Eos Award winners.
"Greenfield's
commitment to providing customized solutions and uncompromising customer
service has positioned its FTTP service as second to none in the communications
industry," John Salak, chairman of the Eos Judging Panel and president of The
Salak Group, Inc.
