National Broadband Plan: What Does It Mean to You?

The National Broadband Plan lays out a bold roadmap to America's future that culminates in a call for 100 Mbps to 100 million Americans by 2020. Although the intent is to stimulus economic growth, spur job creation, and boost key social initiatives, the challenges will be in the details of how Congress and the FCC choose to implement the program.

Public hearings are currently under way discussing a variety of aspects of this program. Continue to monitor this page for the latest information and news.

US Ignite Initiative

The US Ignite program, sponsored by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, is focused on identifying and fostering new applications that demonstrate the potential of high-capacity broadband networks.

The US Ignite program will create a high-bandwidth national testbed, leveraging existing robust broadband infrastructure in the United States, to accelerate the development and deployment of innovative new high-bandwidth applications. The resulting applications will be used to influence national broadband policy and to educate policymakers on the possibilities of broadband.

On June 10 Calix and White House policy makers presented a webinar on US Ignite – its goals, requirements for participation, and information on how to get involved.
